Poppit Sands, Cream Teas and Family Fun

Hi there it’s Lizzy and family and we’ve been out and about most of post lockdown ready to Escape to Wales again. As you know we are based at Woodlands Park Resort, New Quay, which is a great base to get those cobwebs of lockdown swept away. So I headed out and about with Liam and the girls for our first little slice of our Summer getaways.

We ventured out to POPPIT SANDS, which is around a 40 minute drive from Woodlands Park Resort. We had planned for a socially distanced trip out to the beach… and wow what a beach this is! It goes on for miles and miles and miles oooh and miles!!, which has a beautiful coastline & a blue flag beach, lifeguards sheltered sand dunes and even has a really cool area for dog walks and a dog free area.

What an amazing thrill of the warm sea breeze melting away after all those weeks of being cooped up. The kids absolutely loved it.

A definite highlight was not having to pack a picnic! We’d thought ahead and pre booked ours. Definitely pre-book too as its sooooo popular. At the Poppit Sands Beach Café they have really got to grips with social distancing, and are so well organised with making sure customers are safe, with someone ushering you when it was ok to go in. The shop has all the beach essentials, buckets, spades etc as well as snacks and drinks for your day out too.

But my absolute top tip is … BOOK A CREAM TEA TOO! They have three options their ‘Afternoon Tea Box’, ‘Pembrokeshire Afternoon Tea Box’ or a fantastic ‘Vegan Afternoon Tea Box’. They had a scone (the biggest I have ever seen in my life, which I shared with my daughter and two other beautiful cakes all for just £6.00. They were the best cakes we've ever eaten, and we love cake, definitely well worth a visit!!

Best to book at least the day before :

A great place to relax or have fun with the family, and I’m glad to say I walked off the calories of that amazing cream tea, whilst wandering along the beach barefoot with the kids. A day we will all remember as a great family outing together and one we are planning to do again very soon.
